Everyone's going to want one of these!

I have found the most wonderful tool! It's a dental lab handpiece and mirco motor. It is amazing, you can't even feel it running. Absolutely no vibration.  It goes forward and in reverse. You can crank up the speed as needed.

The handpiece has a 3/32" collet. One twist of the middle section releases the bit for incredibly quick changing. And one of the best features of all is it has a foot pedal!

And I already had so many great 3/32" shaft bits, some actual dental bits I got some 25+ years ago.

I had these tiny drill bits but I was so glad I found a 3/32" shaft micro chuck! I also bought some micro drill bits with a 3/32" shaft.

I can do things with this excellent tool that I can't do with a Dremel or flex-shaft!
I bought this on ebay and while there was some price swing, you should be able to get one for under $200.00

  2. My friend runs her own dental lab and almost all of her equipment and materials are wonderful for use in the miniature world. She uses one of these machines as well and sometimes brings it to classes we take together. Hers is pretty expensive, but what a pleasure to work with!!
As you said, no vibration, very low noise levels and a foot pedal to boot! It is definitely on my ' must have' tool list. Unfortunately tools are far, far more expensive here than on your side of the world. But we are always on the lookout for a good second-hand one.

Have fun with your new toy!

  4. My dentist told me that I should get one of these. He even took me into his lab and showed me his.

I am convinced I will order one from eBay as you suggested. As a matter of fact... That is where he told me to buy one.

  8. So, how many from your colleagues started using this dental drill for carving after you? :) I admit I was awed by the ingenuity. You mentioned it causes no vibration. That probably means no sounds too, right? It's really a great tool then! The sound is what usually triggers fear among dental patients. Therefore, there is a great chance that it might affect your concentration while working. Cami@Phoenix Deventures
