Today, 17 years ago....

...my website, Miracle Chicken Urns debuted. Happy Birthday to me :)

I didn't even know what a computer was. But I went out and bought one determined to create a website. I was terrified of it and promptly shut the door to that room. About a month later it was really bugging me, as I am not a quitter. So in I went, sat there and taught myself everything, and 2 months later, uploaded my site!

Below, is the urn that started it all, for my rabbit, Sniffy.

My beloved little Miracle wasn't even born yet when I made this first urn. The website launched when she was 2 years old. I named everything after her, the love of my life.

The urns are hand made of wood, with a miniature figure of the pet, and the name is chip-carved into the top. Everything is custom, I make favorite toys for example, and can put dates too.

Back then the way to rank in search engines was good relevant inbound links. I worked tirelessly on my links campaign. Wrote to everyone who was linking to my competition personally and asked for a link. I was SO PROUD of myself the day I saw my site ranking #3 on Google! WOW the big time :)

  1. This is truly something to celebrate Linda, well done! I've had a similar journey, and sometimes stand amazed at all I have learned. I might be a little bit older than you, was definitely not born in the computer age, people first started getting personal computers when I had a job already and was typing up a storm on my electric typewriter, ha ha. I worked for an insurance broker and we used to send out literally thousands of letters by mail.
I'm sure you are keeping track of algorithim changes on social media and the way Google rankings have changed over time. I'm happy to see the world of internet going back to the way it was in the beginning, good quality links and content instead of all this fluff that has taken over cyber space and made legitimate businesses disappear. May you prosper, and reach many more important mile stones like this!

    1. Well my web building software is so obsolete that search engines stopped finding the urn site. But I do still get urn inquiries, so I guess they're finding me. I was born in the 50's and now, when I see something the size of my finger nail that holds the equivalent of the library of congress, MIND BLOWN, compared to how I grew up :) My mom is 95 and you want to talk about mind blown, hahaha. I'll show her this microscopic thing and tell her it holds every song I love (many thousands) and is still half empty.......we both just shake our heads!
